Frequently Asked Questions
I've never had anything custom made before. How does it work?
Having something made for you is very different from walking into a department store and walking out with a dress, or jacket or what have you. The best part of that difference is that, when we are finished, you will walk out with an outfit that is designed and made to suit you perfectly. Exactly the right shade of color, the right proportion, the right style, the right fit.
But I have a hard time visualizing. How do I know I won't make a mistake?
That's simple: we won't let you! Everyone at Sansappelle is an expert in understanding your style and mixing it with our knowledge of proportion and the aesthetics of dressing well. Lean on us, we are here to guide you. We pride ourselves on being straight talkers when it comes to what will be flattering on our clients.
Do I need an appointment?
Well, yes and no. You are welcome to stop by our shop anytime and peruse the styles that we have out on the floor. However, we have a large library of suits, cocktail dresses and gowns to select from and we don't have it all out at one time.
The reason for an appointment is that our garments are brought to you in each of our large, private fitting rooms where you can shop at your own pace and discuss options of fabric, color and special changes. However, by making an appointment, you are not obligated or pressured to buy. It is simply the way that we can best serve our clients or potential clients!
How many fittings will I need?
Once you have ordered your dress or suit, you can expect three fittings. The first fitting is done in muslin and is when the bulk of the fitting work is done. When you come for your second fitting, you will see your garment in the fabric you chose, which is always very exciting.
At that time, we make any changes or alterations that are needed, and discuss the finishing touches, such as special buttons or the addition of Swarovski crystal details, etc. Your third fitting is the time to slip into your garment and make sure that everything is just the way you like it before you take it with you.
